Located in Pennsylvania
*If you are looking to purchase native perennial plants - many of which are medicinal - this is a wonderful spot!
Loving this land means loving and recognizing the indigenous caretakers of these lands.
Pennsylvania is one of 13 states without any federally recognized tribes, and one of about a dozen without a commission or office dedicated to American Indian issues, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures. This is especially disheartening because what is today known as Pennsylvania was one of the first places Europeans had contact with indigenous people of Turtle Island (North America).

*Trauma warning*
Thousands of Native children were taken from their homes to forcibly assimilate and erase their cultural identity during 1879-1918 under the mantra "kill the Indian, save the man." The remains of 10 children who died there from malnourishment, abuse, and disease were finally returned to their home communities in Alaska and Rosebud, South Dakota in June 2021. The cemetery still holds over 180 bodies.
